Beaches along the North Sea are unique and special and a place where you can get plenty of wonderful experiences. However, the North Sea can be dangerous and there is a risk of accidents as is the rule on all beaches. With consideration, responsibility and knowledge you can minimize the risk of anything happening to you or you family.

Specific about the North Sea
Watch out for current and rip currents. Read and talk to your children about what to do if they are caught by a rip current. Be aware of the undertow that may be moving below the surface current along the shore. If the current cathes you:
• Stay calm down
• Do not fight the current, but swim with it or you will use all your energy
• When the current slows down then swim towards the shore in a curve
High wavesSome times high waves come to the beach and they can throw even an adult over. Be careful when you go into the water in the North Sea.

Beach toys
The offshore wind pushes floatable beach toys, airbeds and rubber boats into the sea. Avoid using them or attach these objects to a string on shore.
Keep an eye on your children
Beaches along the North Sea can be very long and children can be lost. Keep an eye on your children and talk with them about potential dangers on the beach
