Varde and district has about 50 km of broad white sandy beaches with dunes. The blue flags officially signify clean beaches and water, and there is heavy emphasis on safety in the water.
The beaches are open to all, and wherever the guest cares to wander, there will be an attractive sand dune or a stretch of beach.

As everywhere in the area, dogs are also welcome on the beach, but they must be kept on a leash except in the period 15 October to 15 March. The dog must be under full control and may not inconvenience the other guests. There is a fenced-in dog forest of about 5,000 square metres in Oksbøl, where dogs can freely run around off the leash as long as they are under the owner’s full control.
The beaches attract guests all year round – there’s space and fresh air here for taking long walks and playing games, and collecting seashells or attractive stones, and perhaps you’ll find a few nice lumps of amber. And if you’re not lucky with the amber, it’s possible in periods in summer to go on to the beach with a professional amber collector and learn a few tricks.
